Developer on council site stops work

A COUNCIL development of four houses at Kilmantin Place in Bray has ceased and will have to go back out to tender.

This emerged at a meeting last week of Bray Municipal District as part of the housing report.

Members learned that the contractor, Burns Construction Limited, informed Wicklow County Council last month that they were not in a position to continue the construction works.

The council has issued a termination notice to the contractor and are currently in the process of re-tendering the works.

Cllr Joe Behan said that it is very worrying, in general, that contractors and consultants have been in this position in more than one case.

‘ The Government is talking about increasing the housing supply but in reality the work is not happening on the ground,’ he said.
