Love in the air as Lakers to raffle a diamond ring
ANYONE preparing to pop the question will be interested to learn that a diamond ring will be up for grabs for just €20. The Love Lakers: Diamond Ring raffle will be launched on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14.
Patrick O’Kelly Jewellers in Bray have donated a beautiful 18ct white gold engagement ring, with the draw for the piece to take place on June 6.There will also be some fantastic runner up prizes, including Dermaglo beauty treatments and more.
Lakers is a sports and recreational club for adults and children with an intellectual disability. Last October, a fire ripped through their clubhouse, destroying four buses and rendering their premises uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.
The club supports over 400 members aged four to 75, seven days a week, providing activities such as football, skiing, cooking, art, pottery, swimming and much more. ‘Lakers are getting back on their feet and now have temporary residence at the Old School House on Eglington Road, thanks to a fantastic community response, but we still need support to replace equipment, continue business as usual, and support local families,’ said a spokesperson for the charity. The organisation’s ultimate goal is to purchase and move in to its own premises.
