AGB slay Hollywood men

AGB HOLLYWOOD 2-7 7

GOALS from Peter Hempenstall and Andrew Maher proved the difference between these two sides when they met in Ballymoney for their opening joust of the SFL Division 1A league on Saturday.

The game was played in a cold and windy Arklow venue and the home side were quickest out of the traps with a rapid 1-2 on the board before Hollywood knew where they were.

It was a Philip Healy ball that was finished to the back of the Hollywood net that got the game up and running and AGB held a 1-5 to 0-3 lead at the break.

Gareth Bell gave Hollywood a bright start with the opening point of the second half but when Andrew Maher finished coolly from the penalty spot after a foul on Shane McBride it was curtains for the Hollywood challenge.

In fairness, the west side didn’t throw in the towel and battled right to the end but the gulf just couldn’t be bridged.

Scorers: AGB: Peter Hempenstall (1-1), Andrew Maher (1-0), Darragh Culleton (0-2), Ciaran O’Shea, Ciaran Hyland, Stephen Hurley and Philip Gleeson (0-1) each.

Hollywood: Gareth Bell and Ciaran Tyrrell (0-2) each, Eoin Burke, Conor Burke and Michael Healy (0-1) each.
