Blood pressure checks at Enniskerry library

-

THE Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Health Unit visited Enniskerry Library last Friday.

There were two nurses on hand on the day, providing free blood pressure checks and heart health information.

Over 30 people attended the mobile unit. The event was held as part of the Healthy Ireland at your Library programme, a Government-led initiative to improve health and well being, placing a focus on prevention, individual awareness and keeping people healthy for longer.

The event was a great success, according to librarian Sinead Murdiff-Mulligan.

‘ The library is a great place for bringing together the old and the young in the community, and there was lots of positive feedback about how informative and friendly the nurses were,’ she said.

‘Lots of people mentioned that they had been putting off getting their blood pressure checked, but this gave them the opportunity to have a free health check at their convenience.’

Other Healthy Ireland at Your Library events are taking place in libraries all over the county in February and March.

On Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m., there will be a talk at Bray Library about sugar addiction. Call 01 2862600 to book.
