A Gorey resident who appeared before Arklow District Court to answer motoring charges has been handed a prison sentence.

Jason Douglas of 8 Newborough, Hollyfort Road, Gorey, was charged with having no insurance, no NCT and failure to produce documents at Boglands, Arklow, on October 14, 2016.

Last Wednesday, the court heard that he missed a recent court date as his young child had health difficulti­es.

A four-month sentence was imposed with the final two months suspended in his own bond of €200. Douglas was also put off the road for four years and handed a fine of €350.
