An Aughrim man who drove a quad bike on a public road without insurance or a licence has been fined at Arklow District Court.

William Kavanagh of 28 Croghan View was charged with committing the offence at Rednagh Road, Aughrim, on August 19, 2018, when he was stopped at a garda checkpoint.

The court heard that the defendant, a farm labourer, never had a licence and was asked to bring the bike for repairs by his employer.

Judge David Kennedy fined him €300 but did not hand down a disqualification.
