Committee elected for Arklow RNLI fundraisin­g

WITH an new committee in place, Arklow RNLI Fundraisin­g Branch is looking forward to another busy year of raising money to help save lives at sea.

The group held its AGM on Wednesday, February 13, where Michael Mordaunt stepped aside as chairman after ten years at the helm. In that time, Michael has provided dedicated and active service to the branch, helping to organise the Hurry to the Curry, the Maritime Festival and many other events. Recently, Michael has committed himself to becoming a crew member and was recently involved in his first call-out. Everyone present wished him well in his endeavours.

Maurice Leahy was elected the new chairman of the fundraisin­g committee and will be ably supported by Tommy Annesley (vice-chairman), Majella Myler (secretary), Tony Fennell (treasurer), Tommy Nolan (assistant treasurer) and a committee of Bev Nicholson, James Tyrrell, Bebe Redmond, Paul Burke, Cassie Doyle and Sean Og Conaghan.

The new Maritime Festival committee includes Maurice Leahy (chairman/coordinato­r), Michael Mordaunt, Tommy Annessley, Joy Crosbie, Marc Corcoran and Jimmy Myler.

Arklow RNLI Fundraisin­g Branch always welcomes new volunteers and helpers. Anyone who can spare an hour or two or who wants to support a particular event is asked to get in touch with any committee member.
