Great day’s racing enjoyed in Tinahely

POINT-TO-POINT racing continued in the south east on Sunday with the running of the Bray Harriers meeting at Fairwood, Tinahely. A good day’s racing was enjoyed by the crowd on a mild spring day.

The opening race, a maiden race for four-year-old horses, was kindly sponsored by Tattersall­s Ireland, and was won by the shortprice­d favourite, the Colin Bowe trained Linelee King in the hands of reigning champion Barry O’Neill. The runner up, Agent Rushour, was trained by Jonathan Fogarty in Wexford and ridden by Jamie Codd.

The second race was the Magee Family race for five-year-old geldings and saw another odds-on favourite winning. The winner was Enjoy D’Allen, trained by Peter Flood and ridden by Jamie Codd. The runner up was the long-time leader Ultimate Getaway, trained in Camolin by John Paul Brennan and ridden by James Walsh.

The third race, the John Durkan Open Race, become the third winning odds-on favourite on the card.

This was won by the Gordon Elliott trained Kruzlinin in the hands of Jamie Codd giving him a quick double on the day and his fifth winner of the weekend.

Kruzlinin is a 12-year-old horse and remains unbeaten for the season with this his seventh success, and third at this venue. He is now likely to run in the Foxhunters in Aintree.

The runner up was the Jim Dreaper trained Venitien de Mai, ridden by Rob James.

The fourth race, for five-yearold and upwards maiden mares, was kindly sponsored by John Fitzpatric­k, Agricultur­al Contractor.

This was won by Subtle Quest which made all the running under Barry ONeill and was trained by Colin Bowe, giving them a double on the afternoon.

The runner was Sadhbh’s Delight trained in Adamstown by Kieran Roche and ridden by James Walsh.

The fifth race on the card was a Winners of Two and sponsored by Fitzpatric­k, Gallagher, McEvoy, Solicitors.

This was a popular local success for Loggan Lady trained locally by John Walsh of Ballyday and ridden by his son, Barry.

The runner up just one length adrift was Spanish Leather, trained in Wexford by Brian Jordan and ridden by Marc Scallan.

The final race of the day was a maiden race for six-year-old and upwards geldings and was sponsored by Kent Carty Solicitors and Frank and Martin O’Donnell.

Fleck Ivy ran out a comprehens­ive winner here in the hands of Tiernan Power Roche and was trained in Wexford by Benny Walsh.

The runner up was the Peter Lawlor trained Tipp Away, ridden by Jordan Hart.
