NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC

Three of our teams ie the under-nines, 11’s and 13’s all got there seasons under way last weekend. Our under-nines travelled to Greystones to take on the home club’s Red team and after a series of exciting games our team came out on top. On the day we had three players playing there very first game and Hugo Clayton, Elliott Biddle and Conor Shevlin all acquitted themselves very well. On the day among those who starred for Newtown were Nathan Donohoe, Aaron Nolan and David McCormack.

Our under-11s (kindly sponsored by Real Debt Solutions) hosted Greystones Yellow and though we ran out comfortable winners, this was a keenly contested game. On the day William Valentine, Ryan Collins and Luke Turley all scored trebles while Daniel Eager also found the net. On the day Sebastian Anton and Mikey Synnott were among the players who starred and a special mention to the team’s goalkeeper Nichita Neaga, who saved a second half penalty.

Our under-13s played their first 11-a-side game at home to Wicklow Rovers ‘B’ and the away side ran out comfortable winners. Fair play to our team who battled gamely against a side who probably should be playing in a higher league. Aaron Cawley scored the Newtown goal and he along with Edward Valentine, Keira Farrelly and Rose Kelly Tynan were among the star performers on the day.

The following are the fixtures for the weekending Saturday/ Sunday, March 2/3; under-eights at home to Rathnew FC ko to be confirmed under-nines at home to Greystones Yellow ko to be confirmed under-10s away to Greystones Yellow ko to be confirmed under-11s away to Greystones Green ko to be confirmed under-12s away to St Anthony’s ‘B’ ko to be confirmed under-13s – fixture to be confirmed (Fixtures and KO Times are subject to change)
