Glencormac see off Arklow Celtic to take top spot

Glencormac United moved back to the top of the Andy McEvoy Premier Division table with a facile victory over Arklow Celtic at Ryder’s Field on Sunday.

The Glens ran out 8-1 winners, with Josh O’Callaghan contributi­ng a hat-trick, Nathan Watters adding a double and Sam O’Callaghan, Luke Reynolds and Sam

Kerr chipping in with a goal apiece. Mikey Doyle hit the back of the net for Celtic.

Carnew AFC earned their third win of the top flight campaign with a 2-0 triumph over Arklow Town. John Kavanagh and Conall McCrea got their goals.

Table-toppers Roundwood made it a magnificen­t seven wins from seven as they saw off Shamrock Celtic 5-1 on Sunday.

Glen Hughes and Tony Conway both netted doubles for the winners, while Damien Johnson also got on the scoresheet and Scott Meaney replied for Celtic.

Arklow Town sit in second spot after overcoming Aughrim Rangers by the odd goal in seven at Allen Park.

Cian Kelly (two), John Kearon and Conor Dodd scored for the winners, while Adam Rochford bagged all three goals for Aughrim.

Derry Rovers secured an emphatic win on the road as they overpowere­d bottom side Balllywalt­rim FC 11-1.

Caellum Travers Devlin and Dan Murphy both helped themselves to hat-tricks, Luke Nolan added a double, while Luke Connors,

Jason Cowman and Eoin Devlin bagged a goal apiece.

Ryan Kearney netted the consolatio­n goal for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Arklow Celtic and Carnew AFC came away with a point apiece after a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park.

Gary McLoughlin netted a double for the home side, while Darren Jordan bagged a brace for Carnew.
