Woman charged with murder

SARAH DOYLE EXPECTED TO SEEK HIGH COURT BAIL

-

A BRAY woman who has been charged with the murder of her husband is expected to seek High Court bail allowing her to be released from prison until her trial.

Sarah Doyle was charged with the murder of her husband Philip last Thursday at Wexford District Court.

Philip Doyle (33) who was also originally from Bray died following an incident at their family home in The Heath, Ramsgate Village in Gorey, Co Wexford in the early hours of January 26 this year.

At Wexford District Court yesterday (Tuesday) Judge Brian O’Shea adjourned the case until June 16 to allow for the preparation of a Book of Evidence.

A Bray woman who is charged with the murder of her husband appeared before Wexford District Court yesterday (Tuesday) via video link.

Sarah Doyle who is originally from Bray had initially been charged with the murder of her husband Philip Doyle last Thursday.

Philip Doyle (33) who was also originally from Bray died following an incident at their home in The Heath, Ramsgate Village in Gorey, Co Wexford in the early hours of January 26 this year.

On January 27, the mother-of-two, was arrested and charged under section 11 of the firearm and offensive weapons act.

On Thursday last, Ms Doyle appeared before Wexford District Court to face a charge of murder.

Detective Sergeant Noel McSweeney gave Judge Brian O’Shea evidence of the arrest. He said that Mrs Doyle had replied ‘no comment’ when the charge of murder was laid against her earlier that afternoon.

Yesterday (Tuesday) shemade a brief appearance at Wexford District Court, by video link from the jail in Dublin where she was being held on remand.

The address of Ms Doyle, formerly from Bray, was given in court paperwork as 112 The Heath, Ramsgate Village, Gorey, County Wexford.

The case was first on the list of matters to be dealt with by Judge Brian O’Shea.

However, technical problems with the video link meant that her hearing was delayed by more than 20 minutes.

Ms Doyle was represented in person at the courthouse in Belvedere Road by solicitor Damien Coffey.

He pointed out that his client was due to have a bail application dealt with in the High Court later in the day.

When the defendant appeared on the large screen behind the judge she was wearing a face mask.

However, she removed this piece of personal protective equipment as she took her seat and looked into the camera.

She was dressed in a dark cardigan and green/yellow shirt.

Garda Sergeant Victor Isdell told the court that the book of evidence supporting the murder charge was not yet ready to be served on the accused.

He expected that it would take another fortnight to complete.

The judge responded that he felt it would not be fair to bring the accused to court in Wexford only to find that the book was still not ready.

On that basis he proposed an adjournment until June 16, indicating that the case will be struck out on that date if the documents are still not prepared on that date.

This course of action was agreed by both sides and the adjournment for four weeks was then confirmed before the screens went blank.
