STEP IN RIGHT DIRECTION AS PETER RAISES €16,600 FOR OPEN DOOR

PETER Lawlor from Kilmurray in Kilmacanog­ue has raised over € 16,600 so far for Open Door day centre in Bray.

Peter is walking a minimum of 6,000 steps each day and asking people to make donations at idonate. ie/peterlawlo­r.

His sister Nicola said that the whole family is astonished at how generous people have been. She said donations have come from all over Wicklow as well as Mayo, Dublin and even America.

Bray Credit Union included a donation of € 2,000.

He is still out walking every day, and receiving plenty of encouragem­ent from everyone who sees him.

People are really getting behind the campaign adding it was great to see such community spirit.

‘ We are speechless with the response,’ said Nicola. ‘ There are no words to describe how proud we are of Peter. We keep telling him to run in an election, he’d win!’

Peter is a client of Open Door and really wants to get back there. In the meantime, the walking is keeping him busy.

Peter( 48) has been attending Open Door since 1991, every Wednesday and Friday.

The physiother­apy helps with his physical health and he really enjoys making presents for family and friends in ceramics.

Peter is one of the oldest people in Ireland to have a condition called Prader-Willi syndrome ( PWS).

Symptoms include weak muscles, slow developmen­t, premature aging and more.
