Care centre will transform north Wicklow area
THE Minister for Health has said the new Primary Care Centre in Bray will transform the delivery of healthcare in north Wicklow.
Commenting on the centre this week Minister Simon Harris outlined progress on the facility - despite the impact of Covid-19 on building projects over the last two months.
‘ The new Bray Primary Care Centre is now largely complete,’ said Minister Harris.
He commented that the GP practice, the Carlton Clinic, has relocated to the facility and that the HSE is currently equipping the centre for other services to commence in the coming weeks.
The local Meals on Wheels will be moving into the centre as well in the coming weeks and it’s expected that additional services will also be relocated there next month with other services likely to be based there in July and August.
However, Minister Harris said diagnostic services ‘will take a little longer’ to relocate.
When fully operational the centre will include the following services; Carlton Clinic GP Practice; Public Health Nursing; Dental; Dietetics; Psychology; Occupational Therapy; Speech & Language Therapy; Addiction Treatment Services; Social Work; Counselling and Physiotherapy.
The minister said he’s excited at how the centre ‘will transform the delivery of healthcare in north Wicklow’.
‘Crucially it will also be able to house an X-ray facility which will ensure we can access x-rays in the community without needing to go to hospitals,’ he said.
