Lena named UCD’s top sportsperson

GLENEALY’S World Cup hockey ace Lena Tice was named ‘UCD Sportsperson of the Year’ last week at the the Bank of Ireland UCD AUC Sports Awards 2020.

A member of the first ever Irish field sport team to reach a World Cup final, Lena went on to win both the Irish Senior Cup and EY Hockey League with UCD ladies hockey team,

‘I’m absolutely delighted and honoured to be named the Dr. Tony O’Neill UCD sportsperson of the year (2020),’ said Lena last weekend. ‘I just want to say a massive thank you to Ad Astra Academy who’ve made all the difference in my years in UCD so far, to the UCD Athletic Council and to Bank of Ireland, but most of all I just want to thank UCD ladies hockey club. To my coaches, to the club and to my incredible teammates, it’s a very special thing to be a part of.

‘Like many of you I just can’t wait to get back out there on the field, start preparing for Toyko 2021 and also start preparing for, hopefully, a brilliant club season with UCD,’ she added.
