Phase one reopening advice for the uplands
WICKLOW Uplands Council is one of many organisations which endorsed the inclusion of outdoor recreation activities in Phase one of the roadmap for reopening the country.
This nationwide approach offers guidance to participating in outdoor recreational activities and recognises its importance in supporting our physical and mental wellbeing, especially during this challenging time.
Very small groups with a maximum of four people are permitted to engage in outdoor activities and only where a 2m physical distance can be maintained.
Wicklow Uplands Council also request that risk factors are removed from any outdoor activities at this time. This is to reduce the allocation of emergency services and mountain rescue teams, who by responding to any incidents, will be placing themselves at risk of contracting the coronavirus.
The Uplands Council has also released a number of steps to ensure the safe, enjoyable and successful reopening of our outdoor spaces.
You should Follow Government protocols and public health guidelines. Stay local and within a 5km radius of your home for exercise. Exercise with members of your household or a maximum of three people from outside your household. Observe physical distancing by keeping at least two metres apart. Park legally and responsibly if driving to outdoor amenities. Keep dogs on a lead at all times. Respect the natural environment and dispose of waste properly.
