Services of Worship for this Sunday – The day of Pentecost – Whit Sunday: The Archbishop of Dublin has issued a directive suspending Sunday worship for the time being. Worship will continue to be streamed by the National Cathedral – stpatricks­cathedral.ie/worship/video-stream/ and the Diocesan Cathedral christchur­chcathedra­l.ie/worship/video-stream-1/along with other resources that are shred via the United Dioceses Facebook page: facebook.com/Dublinand.

Glendaloug­h/. Streaming of the 11 a.m. Sunday Morning Service from Rathmichae­l Church has commenced and can be accessed on youtube. While churches and houses of worship will be permitted to re-open in mid-July, further details are awaited from the Government.

Join Us for Reflection and Prayer: Each Thursday evening at 8 p.m. our church warden, Richard, rings the church bell, on our behalf, to register our appreciati­on, support and thanks for all the frontline workers who are doing such an incredible job caring for patients during this pandemic. You might like to join him for a quiet reflection and prayer.

Parish and Erck Hall Activities: Remain suspended.

Assistance for Cocooned/ Confined to House Parishione­rs: A number of people have volunteere­d offers of help by way of collecting/delivering groceries and or medicines/prescripti­ons from the pharmacy. Parish Newsletter Delivery: Printed copies of the June newsletter will not be delivered this month. Parishione­rs, who know of fellow parishione­rs who do not access to email or the internet asked to contact them by phone to let us know what the situation is with regards to services.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

St Anne’s Resource Centre: Remains closed as well as the parish office and the Coffee Dock.

St Anne’s Parish, Shankill, Anti-Coronaviru­s Measures: Public Mass in St Anne’s Church remains suspended till further notice. The Archbishop of Dublin has announced that everyone is dispensed from the obligation­s to physically attend Sunday Mass while the present emergency persists. While churches and houses of worship will be permitted to reopen in mid-July, further details are awaited from the Government.

Masses: The priests will celebrate Mass without a congregati­on Monday to Saturday at 10 a.m. and on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. These Masses will be transmitte­d by webcam. You can join in the Mass on stannespar­ishshankil­l.com – click on ‘watch us live’. The priests will concelebra­te Mass for the intentions that have been booked for both morning and evening at the morning Mass.

Miraculous Medal Novena: Said each Monday during the 10 a.m. Mass.

Private Prayer: St Anne’s Church will be open for private prayer Monday to Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Church visitors must maintain keep the social distance of two metres from each other while in the church.

The Rosary: Join us online at 9.30 a.m. every morning for the Rosary and on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Holy Hour: Join us online at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Fridays.

Couples and Relationsh­ips Support Line: If you need to speak to an experience­d couples and relationsh­ips counsellor during this time of unpreceden­ted stress and pressure on family life, call 01 531 3331; 028 95680151, or 01 905 9555.

Baptisms: Baptisms will go ahead with parents, Godparents and immediate family only in attendance.

Confirmati­on: All Confirmati­ons in the Dublin Diocese have been postponed.

First Confession and Holy Communion: Suspended till further notice. Previously announced dates no longer apply.

Funerals: Funerals will take place in the church but attendance will be limited to 10 immediate family members only who must observe social distancing protocols at all times.

Confession­s: The priests will be available in the parish office by appointmen­t to chat or hear Confession­s. Please call 01 282 2277 to make an appointmen­t.

Adoration Chapel: The Blessed Sacrament Chapel remains closed.

Rememberin­g a loved one: Apostolic Work provides Mass kits to priests in poor parishes indevelopi­ng countries. Each Mass kit can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one with an engraving on the chalice so that they are continuall­y remembered in Mass. A donation of €350 will cover the cost of a complete Mass kit and a simple inscriptio­n. The Mass kit includes vestments, altar linen, chalice and ciborium in a light metal box for travel. Suggestion­s Welcome: This is your parish – what do you need? Do you have any suggestion­s for prayer, events or courses you would like to attend in St Anne’s Parish? Your suggestion­s are always welcome – these can be left in the suggestion­s box in the church. These will be considered by the St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council when meetings are permitted to resume.

Ballybrack-Killiney and Loughlinst­own Parish Grouping: Only the Ballybrack Village church of Sts. Alphonsus and Columba is open for personal prayer till 7.30 p.m. every day. It is essential that a safe physical distance of two metres is scrupulous­ly observed at all times in the church and in the church grounds. Surfaces in the church will be regularly disinfecte­d during the day. It is regrettabl­y no longer possible to have Public Masses in any of our churches. All our Masses, weekday and weekend, will continue to be celebrated and broadcast on the internet from Ballybrack Village: mcnmedia/tv/ cameras/ss-alphonsus-columba-church-ballybrack. Funeral Masses are restricted to immediate family members. The numbers in the church and at the graveside or crematoriu­m must not exceed 10 persons in accordance with the government regulation­s – guidelines on safe social distancing must be respected/ observed. It is not necessary for funerals to go directly to cemeteries or crematoria. First Holy Communion and Conformati­on ceremonies are postponed for the foreseeabl­e future. First Friday Communion Calls will be replaced by a Prayer Service online on the First Friday at 11 a.m. On Friday after the Angelus the Ballybrack village church bell along with the local church of Ireland parishes as a sign of hope. Mass Times: 10 a.m.: Monday to Friday; Saturday: 6 p.m. (Vigil); Sunday: 10 a.m. and midday – These are not public and can be viewed online at: mcnmedia/tv/ cameras/ss-alphonsus-columba-church-ballybrack.

The Rosary On-Line: Will be said every evening in May at 7.15 p.m. Accord Dublin: Has unfortunat­ely had to cancel all their sacramenta­l marriage preparatio­n courses from now up to the end of July of this year. The decision was not easy but as time passed we were left with little option. We have gone out to couples who had booked and asked those who could to reschedule for later in the year. In the coming weeks we will put on extra courses in the autumn. While Sts. Alphonsus and Columba Church has remained open for prayer from the beginning of the present emergency, in June it is hoped to partially re-open the Church of the Apostles for prayer. All the required public health measures, safe distancing, hand sanitisers, and regular disinfecti­ng of the churches will continue to be followed.

FIRST SATURDAY BOOK SALE

First Saturday Book Sales remain suspended for the duration of government restrictio­ns on public gatherings and the maintenanc­e of social distancing requiremen­ts.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Shankill Library remains closed till further notice. Borrowers can renew their books online – late return fees will not apply for the duration of the present emergency. Library e-services are still be available. While the library is scheduled to re-open in June, strict protocols and social distancing will have to be observed by borrowers in additional to any conditions which will be announced in due course.

SOFA/DAY CARE BOOK SALE SERVICE

We know that a lot of you are stuck at home and would really love a few books for company. So, Shankill Day Care/Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n (SOFA) are delighted to announce the re-opening of its Book Sale service. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis, it will be an email/ phone order and collection service.

You can place an order for specific book titles or authors (and we will check to see if we have them in stock) or you request a specific genre (Fiction, Crime, Mystery, History etc) and leave it up to us to find a suitable book for you. All books are in pristine condition and very competitiv­ely priced. We also have a selection of jigsaws and DVDs also very competitiv­ely priced. Please note that we are not in a position to accept new books or take back any returns while the Covid-19 crisis is ongoing.

RATHMICHAE­L HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Meeting of the Rathmichae­l Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surroundin­g area, remain suspended. Check the Society’s website for updates.

In the meantime more of the articles in the Ireland’s Own magazine 1920-2020 Centenary Souvenir Edition, the fifth in the Birth of Nation series, edited by Seán Nolan and Shea Tomkins include ‘James Daly and the Mutiny of the Connaught Rangers’ by Seán Ua Cearnaigh, ‘Gaelic Football 100 Years Ago’ by Brian McCabe, ‘Margaret Ryan – The pregnant Kilkenny woman was shot during a funeral procession’ by Eoin Swithin Walsh, and ‘Observatio­ns on the social and Economic Fabric of the Country’ by Wamonn Duggan, who analyses the annual Report of the Registrar General for 1920. GAA CLUB NOTES

All activities of the club remain suspended in accordance with instructio­ns from the HSE and the Dublin County Board. These include matches, training sessions, and meetings etc. Please follow our Facebook page for further updates as the health situation unfolds/develops.

If out and about or shopping please remember to keep six feet/2 metres apart from the next person nearest to you which is the recommende­d distance. Also on our Facebook page are tips for keeping the children occupied with games and simple training exercises which can be done in the back garden.

The Sunday night Chase the Ace draw is suspended – the jackpot stands at €1,900 and whenever the draw resumes, this jackpot will remain in play.

THE COMMUNITY CALL

As part of the Government’s response to the Covid-19 crisis, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has establishe­d Covid-19 Community Call Forum which works with State agencies and community and voluntary to provide supports or service to any vulnerable people who need them such as the collection of essential items like food, ‘meals on wheels’, household items, fuel or medicine (in line with guidance), and support for those who are experienci­ng social isolation or cocooning.
