Lotto draws move online

-

SPORTS clubs across Co. Wicklow are navigating online to hold their weekly lotto draws in a bid to maintain their income during the covid-19 emergency.

Knockananna GAA Club is one of a large number of clubs in the county who have made the move to the online mechanism through the Clubforce app and they are finding it very beneficial since taking the decision.

‘It’s been a very good start,’ said Knockananna GAA Club Chairman Paul Lancaster. ‘Because of Covid-19 we had to move online so as to try and maintain an income into the club,’ he added.

It’s extremely easy for club supporters who wish to get behind the online version of the lotto.

They can download the Clubforce app and search for Wicklow and then scroll through the list of clubs. Or they can simply log on to the Knockananna GAA Club

Facebook page and there they will find the link for the Clubforce page that will take then directly through to where they select their numbers and pay for the ticket which is then included in the draw.

The Knockananna jackpot is currently at €17,850, a figure that may well whet the appetite of lotto ticket buyers anywhere in the world such is the beauty of the online adventure.

Stratford-Grangecon GFC are another club who have migrated online in recent days. Their draw took place on Tuesday, June 2, (yesterday) for a jackpot of €3,500 and you can support them by logging on to www.clubforce. com and searching through the list of clubs.

Arklow Town FC are another club to have made the jump.

‘Arklow Town FC is excited to announce the launch of our new online club lotto. The first draw will take place on Thursday, June 11, at 6pm,’ they wrote on their Facebook page.

‘Not alone will you be supporting our wonderful soccer club, but you will have the chance to win our top prize (match four plus bonus) for week one of €3,200.

‘We know times have been tough this past number of months during the Covid-19 pandemic, but we have seen how the whole community have looked out for each other.

‘We have seen so many acts of kindness and generosity in our community. Staying connected has been so important for everyone in our society.

‘It’s been wonderful to see all the old photos on our Facebook page over the last few months, and it enabled some former players and members of the club to re-connect with our great club which is steeped in history.

‘As you all know, we are very proud of the fantastic facilities we have in Lamberton. We are one of only a handful of clubs who have a full-sized floodlit Astro pitch.

‘However, with wonderful facilities comes expensive bills to maintain their upkeep.’ they said.
