Loreto principal and pupils happy

-

THE principal of Loreto, Emma Raughter said last Monday that many of the outgoing students had been in touch that morning by email.

Some of the comments included: ‘I’m so happy, I’m going to get my first choice’; ‘I’m so excited to be starting college’, and ‘ thanks for all the help’.

‘ There are a few who are a bit worried,’ said Ms Raughter. ‘At first glance, there are around 20 students with over 500 points and three with over 600.’

The principal said that the oversight system was meticulous, and a very rigorous process. She said that overall, everyone was pleased with what they achieved.

‘ They are a smashing group,’ said Ms Raughter. ‘ They were always tight knit. They all worked hard, and worked each other hard.’

She said that what they overcame in the past six months is immense, and that it is sad they didn’t get the usual opportunities to say goodbye.

‘ They were a really community spirited group, and fabulous with the younger years.’

The sixth years had an online

celebration in May to mark the end of their school careers.

‘We do intend to have a graduation when we are able,’ said Ms Raughter.

‘We would have loved to have the students come in today, but we couldn’t do it,’ she said. ‘Space wouldn’t allow. We would have denied the students who are back their time in school.’ Ms Raughter said that every nook and cranny of the school is currently in use. ‘We are delighted to have received so much positive feedback,’ she said. ‘All round, I’m happy today.’
