Suppliers make a return to Aldi
TWO County Wicklow suppliers included in the Grow with Aldi supplier development programme in May of this year will see their products return to shelves nationwide for a limited time only from Sunday, September 13.
Aldi has invested over €2.5 million in the Grow with Aldi programme since it began in 2018, with the programme seeing products from throughout the country placed on sale in Aldi shops for a two-week period.
‘Pure Treats’ Berry Burst Mini Cake and Lemon Drizzle Mini Cake will soon make a return to the shelves, priced €2.99 each, as will the Original Gravy and Balsamic Gravy produced by ‘Porter and Nash’ at €3.29 each.
Developed in partnership with Bord Bia, Grow with Aldi supports small and medium-sized Irish suppliers to gain exposure and experience with a major retailer in Ireland. Suppliers receive tailored mentoring, workshops from the Aldi Buying Team and Bord Bia technical experts, teaching
them the skills to help grow and develop their product, brand and business.
Commenting, John Curtin, Aldi Group buying director, said: ‘Grow with Aldi has consistently delivered for everyone involved. Small and mediumsized Irish suppliers get the opportunity to have their product
sold nationally, shoppers get to enjoy the best Irish-made products being created and Aldi gets to work with even more Irish suppliers. This means more Irish products on shelves for customers, as well as support for these suppliers during these challenging times. With all that has happened worldwide over the past few months, there couldn’t be a better time to be buying more Irish.’
Porter and Nash is the brainchild of two professional chefs with decades of experience between them. Gavin Cassidy and Eoin Lennon produce unique sauces after setting themselves the task to come up with a range of gravies to serve the broad audience of people who love their grub and who also may or may not be vegetarians or vegans. The company is based in Bray.
Gavin Cassidy commented: ‘Your health is your wealth so our chefs at the Porter and Nash kitchen have created a range of sauces which are fat free, low in salt and made with a Gluten-free recipe to help the home cook experiment and achieve delicious dishes with ease.’
‘Pure Treats’ was formed by brother and sister Robert and Denise Hallam as they set about making low-sugar cakes after Rob was diagnosed with diabetes. Their range of freshly baked cakes are sold in portion sized wraps, in single and double packs.
