A man who kept watch while his co-accused stole money was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Hughie Cash (31), Dartmouth Road, Brent, London, appeared at Bray District Court last Thursday.

Inspector Alan Kissane told Judge David Kennedy that on January 11, 2020, at Centra in Rathsallagh, the defendant kept watch as a female co-accused, took money from an office at the back of the shop.

She took at total of €1,400 and they left together.

The offence occurred at 7.25 p.m.

Sgt Roisin Daly said that Cash has 70 previous convictions.

Barrister Eamon O Moore said that his client is married and has five children. He has addiction issues involving tablets, cannabis and alcohol.

Mr O’Moore said that services in prison are limited due to coronavirus, but his client is addressing his issues in prison.

Judge David Kennedy directed that the sentence be backdated to July 27 when Cash went into custody on these matters.
