Covid case in school

-

PARENTS of children attending Moneystown National School in Roundwood were contacted on Saturday and made aware that a pupil attending the school had tested positive for Covid 19.

Once the school received confirmation that one of their pupils had tested positive, they referred to the school’s Covid-19 Response Plan and followed all the guidelines offered by the HSE and the Department of Health.

The School’s Board of Management carried out a detailed risk assessment on Saturday afternoon and took the decision to close the school for two days on Monday and Tuesday. The school reopens today, Wednesday, September 16.

Pupils in the same bubble as the pupil who tested positive were referred for testing by the HSE and advised to stay home from school until Monday, September 21.

The school released a statement thanking parents and staff for their understanding.

‘This weekend also brought to light the importance of being vigilant of even the slightest of symptoms of this virus and the importance of contacting your GP for advice. The safety of our entire school community is our number one priority and we will continue to work together in this ever-evolving situation to try to stop the spread.’
