Concern over harbourmaster

COUNCILLOR Pier Leonard has questioned the delay in appointing a new Harbour Master for Arklow Harbour.

Speaking at last Monday’s Wicklow County Council meeting, the Independent Councillor directed her question to Chief Executive Frank Curran, asking: ‘Last year it was confirmed an assistant would be kept. It’s a year later and the position still hasn’t been filled.’

In reply, Mr Curran said the Harbour Master vacancy was currently with the Human Resources Section. The whole process had been slowed down by the Covid pandemic but was now being progressed.
