WICKLOW County Council’s Head of Finance outlined the levels of interest in business restart grants at the most recent meeting of Wicklow County Council.

Earlier in the meeting Cllr Tom Fortune inquired over the amount paid out to businesses attempting to restart following Covid-19 lockdown.

The Government-backed Restart Grant saw Wicklow County Council invite small business across the county to make an applicatio­n for grants of between €2,000 and €10,000.

1,056 businesses applied for the grant and close to € 4 million was paid out.

A second scheme was introduced, the Restart Grant Plus Scheme, which set the minimum grant at €4,000 and the maximum at €25,000. 1,300 Wicklow businesses applied to the value of €5.2 million.
