Record prices for Cheviots at show
BLESSINGTON Mart reported record prices for Cheviot Hogget Ewes at their Cheviot Sheep Show and Sale.
While the sale was slightly different due to Covid-19 restrictions, the first place in the Cheviot Hogget Ewes class sold at €400 per head.
First place in the Hogget Ew eclass went to John Burke, second to Liam Hopkins with a price of €260 and third was John Malone with his hoggets selling at €315 per head.
In the Cheviot three and four-year-old ewes class, first place went to James O’Neill with his hoggest selling at €210 per head. Second went to William Heffernan, with a price of €210 per head and third went to James Wilson, with a price of €190 for his ewews.
Cheviot Ewe lambs was won by Thomas Jones, who sold at €190 per head. Second place went to Patrick J Moloney, with a price of €237 per head, and third to Peter Burke, who sold his at €222 per head.
