Record prices for Cheviots at show

BLESSINGTO­N Mart reported record prices for Cheviot Hogget Ewes at their Cheviot Sheep Show and Sale.

While the sale was slightly different due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns, the first place in the Cheviot Hogget Ewes class sold at €400 per head.

First place in the Hogget Ew eclass went to John Burke, second to Liam Hopkins with a price of €260 and third was John Malone with his hoggets selling at €315 per head.

In the Cheviot three and four-year-old ewes class, first place went to James O’Neill with his hoggest selling at €210 per head. Second went to William Heffernan, with a price of €210 per head and third went to James Wilson, with a price of €190 for his ewews.

Cheviot Ewe lambs was won by Thomas Jones, who sold at €190 per head. Second place went to Patrick J Moloney, with a price of €237 per head, and third to Peter Burke, who sold his at €222 per head.
