AVONDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
FULL RETURN
All students have now returned to school and are engaging in full timetabled classes. We would like to thank our students for adhering to the host of COVID measures introduced to ensure our safe return. Students have adjusted quickly and respectfully and this would like to be acknowledged by staff.
FIRE SAFETY WEEK
This week health and safety in the school did not focus solely on the COVID procedures but also on fire safety. General safety tips are being considered in morning wellbeing classes and practice drills are being run throughout the week.
ROALD DAHL DAY
Last Thursday the English Department hosted Roald Dahl Day ahead of what would have been his 104th birthday. Junior students delved into this much-loved author’s magical and often humorous worlds with his Revolting Rhymes being particularly popular. The annual Dream Jar Art Competition for First years was also launched, and we eagerly await to see what wonderful works they create.
TRANSITION YEAR TRIP
On Friday, September 14, Transition Year students visited Hidden Valley in Rathdrum to take part in a series of team building activities ranging from laser tag, boating and mini golf. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to get to know each other in a fun way and hone many of the practical skills that will be beneficial this year. Thanks to Ms Gahan and Ms Griffith for co-ordinating the event.
