Soccer action

A mixed bag of results this weekend for the Glens. The 15s travelled to Aughrim on Sunday and lost 2-0. The Glens were missing two key players and lost striker Finn Kelly early on with a hand injury which did not help the cause.

There was better news from the under-13s who had a great 3-1 win over St Anthony’s. It was 0-0 at the break after the Glens endured a strong wind in but they came out fired up for action after the resumption with Luke Honan hitting two beautiful free kicks and new signing Niall Megna getting his first goal for the club as the Glens ran out 3-1 winners.

The under-12s also faced the same opposition and won a tight game 2-1. Both the glens goals were scored by Cian Levins and all the team put in a wonderful performance. Ross Mocharskyy has a super game in goals and Jude Leahy played well in defence with Beibhinn Lavery also having a great game. Well done to all and especially managers.

The under-8s, with Jason Minto in charge, played a series of matches v Enniskerry and won three out the four games in a great morning of football. This featured some fantastic goals by Darren Redmond, Con Dillon, Cian Murray Quinn, Bobby Arencibia Dunne, Paddy Levins and Logan Farrell, some great saves by Emily Flynn and Harvey Ward and some top class defending by Nicholas Mannerings and Charlie Moore.
