ENNISKERRY PARISH OF POWERSCOURT WITH KILBRIDE

Church Services: Shorter services of 20 to 30 minutes in duration now take place with recorded music used between or beneath readings and prayers as a reduction in time that people are together in an enclosed space reduces the risk of infection. Sunday Service times are as follows: 10 a.m. – Short Service of Worship in Kilbride; 11 a.m. – Short Service of Worship in Powerscourt; midday – Short Service of Worship in Powerscourt – this additional Sunday Morning Service is to cater for the restrictions in the number of people the church can facilitate at any one service.

Please observe two metres social distancing while waiting to be called to enter by the stewards, sanitise your hands on entry. Allocated places are marked by a coloured card and service sheet within the pews selected so please fill in your name and telephone number on this card so that we can recall who was present at every service in case Covid-19 is detected. A One-Way System is in place to reduce risk and everyone should follow direction from the stewards after each service on how to exit the church buildings while maintaining distancing, one by one, from the front forward, through the allocated door. There is only one reader (apart from the Rector) at each service. St Patrick’s Church (Powerscourt) will hold 25 individuals per service. (This will increase if families attend – each family will have a full pew). St Brigid’s Church (Kilbride) and its attendance numbers fully fulfil the distancing requirements.

The HSE still recommend that people within the high risk groups i.e. those over-70s or and/ with underlying medical conditions should not attend gatherings of more than six people. The current advice regarding this can be found at hse.ie. Anyone, who is displaying symptoms of Covid-19 or who thinks they may have been in contact with someone suffering from it should not attend church services till medically advised that it is safe to do so. ST MARY’S CHURCH

Parish Website: The parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary has its own website. Please check out ‘Enniskerryparish.ie’ for the latest information about our parish.

Signed Mass Cards: These are available in the parish office. An offering is received with gratitude and in another way of supporting your local clergy.

Our Churches: St Mary’s and St Mochonog’s Church are open for private prayer each day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – please remember to adhere to social distancing requirements. Please sanitise your hands on entry and exit and remember to observe social distancing while in these churches.

Mass in Church: Weekend Masses on Saturdays are celebrated at 6 p.m. in St Mochonog’s and 7 p.m. in St Mary’s. Mass is celebrated in St Mary’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.15 a.m. and on Sundays at 10 a.m. and midday. Sunday Mass in St Mochonog’s is at 10 a.m. Masses will also be on St Mary’s webcam on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10.15 a.m. Please notice that attendance at weekend Masses must be booked though the parish offices (St Mary’s – Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – call 01 2760030 or email stmarys@enniskerryparish.ie/St Mochonog’s – Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – call 01 2021882 or email stmochonogs@ enniskerryparish.ie. Please note that the minimum numbers that allowed into each of these churches with a clear two metre clear spacing between them are 22 individuals for St Mary’s and 16 individuals for St Mochonog’s. A greater number can be accommodated when some family members who reside in the same house sit together. The following Mass attendance rules apply: One way system in the church, entry by the front door and exit by the side door. Sanitise your hands on entry and exit. Keep two metres apart at all times which is also important in the church grounds before and after Masses and Funerals. Holy Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass as your exit. Stewards will be on duty at all Masses so please follow their instructions.

Webcam in St March’s Church: There is now a webcam in the church. Please check into the website – enniskerryparish.ie.

CCTV: Please be aware that there are CCTV cameras in the car park as well in the church. This is to enhance the safety of all those who use the car park and to assist in the prevention of anti-social behaviour and ensuring that people are social distancing as it essential outside the church.

Maintaining Contact With Our Parishioners: The Enniskerry Parish website has been updated so that our parish community can tune in and engage in a Spiritual Communion – go to enniskerryparish.ie and click on the Daily Mass link on the home page. On the parish website there is a Daily Reflection, a Pastoral Letter from Fr Bernard and Fr Hyacinth along with resources for families and prayers at home during this time. Parishioners will be updated on developments every week via our weekly Parish Link Newsletter which will be available each Friday on the parish website. More resources will be added in the coming days and weeks including Mass resources and spiritual links for all.

ENNISKERRY HISTORY SOCIETY

Members, supporters, and friends of the Enniskerry History Society, which meets under the guidance of its president, John Callan, are asked to note the programme for the Dublin Festival of History 2020, which runs to October 4 continues with online talks, guided walks and events, subject to public health guidelines. The programme can viewed at the festival’s website – dublinfestivalofhistory.ie through which bookings to view talks can be made. This Friday night is Culture Night with many events taking place online. Further information about the Enniskerry History Society available from John Callan at 01 2867853.

ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

The library is open on Wednesdays for browsing, borrowing, and the return of books and is open only between 1.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. but borrowers can still order/reserve books online at – smmulligan@wicklowcoco.ie or call 01 286 4339. Books can also be renewed online.

MEALS ON WHEELS SERVICE

The Meals on Wheels service operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanogue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunity to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact to older people in the area. Volunteer drivers are sought who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service. Shankill Day Care/Shankill Old Folks Association (SOFA) are delighted to announce the re-opening of its Book Sale service. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis, it will be an email/phone order and collection service. You can place an order for specific book titles or authors (and we will check to see if we have them in stock) or you request a specific genre (Fiction, Crime, Mystery, History etc) and leave it up to us to find a suitable book for you.
