Changes to Arklow Shipping HQ plans given go-ahead
ARKLOW Shipping’s revised plans for its new headquarters have been given the goahead by Wicklow County Council.
The company submitted an application to the local authority in July to modify the proposed development at the former Ergas site on the North Quay. Planning permission for the three-storey development was granted by Wicklow County Council in August 2019.
The proposed changes to the development include the relocation of the previously approved external plant room to a new position adjacent to the southwestern site boundary, provision of a steel storage and maintenance shed, reconfiguration of the site plan including access roads and ramps within the site, updated landscaping proposals and all associated ancillary site works. Proposed modifications also include a reduction in the number of car spaces from 90 to 80, a reduction in the overall building height by 600mm, design changes to the elevations generally including the western stair core, ground floor store area, former external plant area, and the enclosure of a former balcony space to form an internal meeting room/office space.
Permission for the modifications was granted subject to conditions that the remainder of the development must be completed in line with the original grant of planning permission from 2019.
