Lucky not to have been struck by vehicle

-

A man who was drunk and stepped into the road received a fine of € 200.

Greg O’Toole ( 4), Kilnamona, Lower Calary, Kilmacanogue, appeared last week in Bray District Court.

The court heard that on May 20, he was intoxicated outside Lidl in Greystones and walked out onto the road. This was at 5.15 p. m. Gardai arrested him at the scene. The court heard that he was lucky not to be struck by a vehicle.

While the defendant had 26 previous convictions, the last for public order was in 2009.

Solicitor Joe Maguire said that his client has various limitations and learning disabilities. He lives with his father, who was present on the day. ‘ He has been largely keeping out of trouble,’ said Mr Maguire.

‘ His father feels that because of covid he broke out on this occasion. He has told his father he is very sorry and it won’t happen again.’

Judge David Kennedy said that he doesn’t want to see O’Toole back in court again.
