Planning periodis extended

AN APPLICATION has been lodged with Wicklow County Council seeking to extend the appropriate period of permission for 102 dwellings granted permission in Newtownmountkennedy.

Portella Developments Ltd are behind the plans for the development at Moneycarroll, Newtownmountkennedy. Enabling works started on the site in September 2019, and a commencement notice was lodged in March 2020. However, there were subsequent delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Works have commenced on 28 units, which are at various stages. Permission for the development was received in June of 2015, and is due to end this month. Works did not commence originally due to the last economic recession and the subsequent difficulties in obtaining funding and development finance. Funding has now been obtained

The development is expected to be completed by December 31, 2021, and an extension of one year and four months is being sought to the period of permission. A decision is due by October 10. The development consists of 20 two bed apartments, 13 four bed detached dwellings, 42 four bed semi-detached dwellings, 22 three bed semi-detached dwellings and five four bed terraced dwellings.
