Positive signs for season ahead

- TULLAMORE WICKLOW

WICKLOW traveled to Tullamore for the second leg of their Pre-Season warm up matches.

It took Wicklow 20 minutes to get into the game with errors and penalties keeping them on the back foot.

Once Wicklow found their rhythm they dominated Greystones for the remainder of the half at Dr Hickey Park.

Strong carries by Lauren Barry, Amy O’Neil, Jess Schmidt and Orla’ Neill got the back line running with trys to Ella Roberts, Kayleigh O’Sullivan and a conversion from Sarah Gleeson giving Wicklow a 12-0 half time lead.

The second half started just as the first half finished with Ella Roberts showing her class and a further two trys to score a hattrick before being subbed with 20 minutes to go. A conversion from Hannah Rose had Wicklow in the 24-0 going into the last quarter.

Wicklow welcomed the return of Nicole

Humby after a year long injury as well as two of last years U18s, Nicola Schmidt and Emma Curran who where, as a team unluckly not to score another couple of tries before the end of the game.

Tullamore stuck to there game plan for the entire 80 minutes and where awarded a try just before the final whistle. Final score: Tullamore 5, Wicklow 24.

Outstanding for Wicklow up front were Lauren Barry, Nicola Schmidt and Emma Curran with backs Hannah-Rose Buckley and Ella Roberts shining.
