THE Powerscourt Arms Hotel in Enniskerry has ceased trading. Having closed its doors for the last time recently, a creditors meeting is to take place today ( Wednesday) in Dublin.
Records from last February show debts of almost €70,000 and assets of not even €20,000.
Around 12 people are now out of work after the hotel started getting in to trouble as a result of a decrease in business. Today’s meeting will take place in the Stillorgan Park Hotel and is expected to include the appointment of a liquidator to wind up the company.
According to documents filed at the Companies Office, the directors of the Powerscourt Arms Hotel (Enniskerry) are Pádraig Blighe and Michael Doyle.
Mr Blighe and Mr Doyle have also been directors of the Dolmen Hotel Group Limited, which has operated the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow, since 2000.
The Powerscourt Arms Hotel (Enniskerry) was incorporated in February 2007. The site was bought by property developer Michael Murphy in December 2005 for €8 million.
