€173,000 for sports partnership
Sport and physical activity in County Wicklow will receive €173,000 from Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership through the Dormant Accounts Fund.
The allocation is part of a total investment package of € 7.3m in Dormant Accounts Funding announced by Sport Ireland for a wide range of sport and physical activity measures countrywide.
Sport Ireland’s investment aims to engage with communities across the country, focusing on people with disabilities, people who are educationally disadvantaged and from disadvantaged communities.
Included in the allocation to Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership is Hub Funding for Coral Leisure Arklow €40,000, Sport Ireland Innovation for Sports Inclusion: €100,000, Sports Inclusion Disability Programme Capital Supports: €10,000, Volunteer Training & Education Programme: €15,000 and Youth Leadership: €8,000.
Denise O’Shea, Co-ordinator of Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership, said: “As we know dormant Account Funding is vital to the growth of community and social inclusion through sport in disadvantaged areas around the county. This is going to have a huge impact on people’s wellbeing especially at times like this.’
