Wicklow Dementia Support is seeking volunteers for its Alzpals service.

Alzpals is a befriendin­g service which supports people with dementia who are living at home. Full, free training (online) will be provided with Garda vetting, reference checks, support and ongoing mentoring

A number of talented locals are due to take part in an evening of poetry and song at the Whale Theatre in Greystones this weekend.

‘Poems in the Stones’ will feature local poets Frances Browner and Paul Dillon reading and reciting their poems; Bray poet Carmen Cullen presenting her pandemic poetry on video; and singer and guitarist Michael Heffernan performing his poems in song.

Participan­ts to Poets’ Wall will appear on screen.

The audience will be treated to different forms of poetry epic, elegy, poems that rhyme; lyric, limerick, odes to time; sonnet, haiku, villanelle; dip into the poets’ well.

The show takes place at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7.30 p.m.) on Friday, October 2. Tickets, costing €18, are available from the Whale Theatre.
