New sign sheds light on plants growing around Bray Harbour
A NEW sign has been erected at Bray Harbour drawing attention to the many plants growing in the area.
The shingle beach at the harbour wall supports a large number of biodiverse plants and, in April of this year, Bray Tidy Towns started discussing this with local botanist Tom Curtis.
Several people had commented on the variety of plants over the years and it was felt that this year was a good time to do something about it.
Lengthy discussions took place and it was decided to erect a sign highlighting some of the more interesting plants found nearby and giving a brief background to them to stimulate an interest in them.
Last week, the sign was erected on the beach side of the harbour wall. It gives a list of the plants in the area – 37 in total – while six of these plants were selected by Tom and profiled for their particular interest.
Bray Tidy Towns has send a sincere ‘ thank you’ to all the volunteers and everyone who helped out in this process, including the seafront attendants from Bray Municipal District.
