Carnew rule the roost
Under-14 stars come through tough battle with Aughrim
CARNEW EMMETS AUGHRIM 7-5 0-4
THE 2020 Wicklow Camogie under-14 ‘A’ final saw Carnew going for two in a row against Aughrim.
This Carnew side was in devastating form and strong in all positions on the pitch.
All combined well as a team and made life difficult for a very determined Aughrim side that fought right to the final whistle. Aughrim were very unlucky to be denied a goal by the excellent Julie Rawson in the Carnew goal - when she pulled off a great save from a rasping Ciara Connolly free in this her first year as a netminder for the club.
Carnew mentors Maurice Molloy and Vinnie Mulroe were very happy at fulltime and both agreed that the scoreline did not do justice to the challenge posed by Aughrim.
Chloe Massey, Carnew’s captain, stepped up to the mark with a tally of two goals. After the match she thanked everyone from the officials to Wicklow’s camogie committee, to her mentors from Carnew and most importantly her team mates in her captain’s speech.
