Students’ charity cycle for Road to Roundwood project
TWO fourth year students raised funds for the Road to Roundwood project by cycling all the way to school in Bray from the village.
Carmen O’Connor Foote and Ava May Taylor both attend school at Loreto Bray and were trying to think of ways of assisting plans to relocate a refugee family, who are fleeing from war, in Roundwood.
They decided on a sponsored 20k cycle to school and set off on their expedition, after getting in a little bit of practise first. The girls successfully achieved their mission having set off in the early hours of the morning and also managed to raise €1,300 in donations from school friends, neighbours and relatives.
The Road to Roundwood group carried out numerous fundraising activities over the past year or so and are now focused on finding a suitable house to rent in the locality for a family from a war-torn region. Anyone who is interested in renting out their property can contact Tomás at 087 9833896.
