VENUES PREPARE TO RESCHEDULE
MERMAID Theatre and Signal Arts Centre in Bray and Whale Theatre in Greystones are among the many arts venues to close to the public for the coming weeks due to Ireland’s move to Level 3.
‘After five weeks of wonderful, uplifting performances at the theatre, we’re very disappointed to announce that due to the Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions, all events scheduled at Mermaid Arts Centre from today ( Wednesday) up to and including October 28 are postponed until further notice,’ said a spokesperson for Whale Theatre in a statement.
‘ Ticket bookers have been contacted and we will confirm rescheduled dates as soon as possible.
Tickets will be valid for new performance dates, and if you cannot attend on the new date you will be entitled to a full refund.’
At Mermaid, all events have similarly been postponed. ‘ We will endeavour to reschedule as many of these as possible,’ said a spokesperson. The box office remains open and ticket holders will be contacted. Work is continuing behind the scenes at Mermaid, with rescheduling events and facilitating artists to continue developing new work. Betelnut Café remains open for takeaway and limited
outdoor dining.
‘ We’re also continuing to plan events for the future, and we look forward to welcoming audiences back to the building as soon as public health guidelines allow it.’
Libraries are among cultural institutions to close their doors, but are still providing service to users. They are offering a click & collect service at all library branches, including the mobile library.
While people can’t enter the buildings or mobile library, they can go as far as the door to collect or return library items.
