THIS year’s Moonlight Challenge fundraiser for the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team has been postponed until 2021.

The Glen team have been closely monitoring the situation since March, while all the time planning how to execute the Moonlight Challenge in a safe manner while following all the Covid 19 guidelines.

The team discussed at length the difficulties facing the fundraiser before deciding in April to fix a date of Saturday, November 7 for the challenge, when it was felt the country could be back on the road to recovery. However the recent rise in Covid 19 cases, combined with increased restrictions, with was decided with regret to postpone the Moonlight Challenge until next year.

A Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue spokesperson said: ‘Hopefully all this will be behind us soon and we can set about getting the Moonlight Challenge underway sooner rather than later. We want to thank everyone for their continued support and for your patience and understanding on this delayed announcement.’
