Glenheron Creche gets green light

A CRECHE planned for Glenheron will go ahead, members of Greystones Municipal District learned last week at a meeting.

‘A lot of people I know are anxiously waiting on this and I have been regularly following up with the planners over the last year,’ said Cllr Lourda Scott. ‘ The problem reported is the difficulty in getting an operator to run it so there’s a reluctance to build in case the building remains empty. I have heard this problem raised before, and in the meantime people are crying out for childcare places.’

Developers Cairn Homes have also committed to building the community facilities promised as part of their planning permission but no timeframes were given.

District manager Michael Nicholson said that while the estate is nearly finished, the developer is not in breach of planning conditions.
