Stuart Cullen wins festival award
GREYSTONES actor Stuart Cullen (28) has been awarded Best International Male Actor at this year’s Jersey International Film Festival.
He received the award for his role in the film ‘Final Curtain’, which was awarded Best International Thriller.
‘Final Curtain’ tells the story of Finn O’Connor, played by Stuart Cullen.
Finn is a young actor who spends his nights waiting tables in an upscale Dublin restaurant to pay the bills.
A bad encounter with a famous director named Brendan Bloom, played by Paudge Behan (‘Love/Hate’), leaves Finn humbled and determined to give Mr Bloom the private audition of his life.
The film, which had its world première, as part of the official selection, at the Not Film Festival in Italy in September, was created and produced by Jack Armstrong of Dublin H2 films.
‘We are delighted with the way the film was received internationally,’ said Armstrong.
‘We are especially delighted to have had the opportunity to introduce Stuart Cullen to the public. The award for Best International Male Actor for Stuart is an incredible achievement at this early stage in his career.
Armstrong and the team at H2 Films hope to capitalise on the film’s international success in the coming year:
The Irish preview of the film was postponed to March due to Ireland’s entry into Covid-19 restrictions.
‘Given the film’s success internationally, we will be looking to postpone an event for 2021. For now, the project will continue to tour the international film festivals circuit until next summer, after which we will align with the streamers and influencers as well as traditional broadcast media, to reach as wide an audience as possible,’ he said.
