-

BRAY WANDERERS goalkeeper Brian Maher has been invited to train with the Republic of Ireland U-21 squad.

The Seagulls shot-stopper has been in scintillating form as the Co. Wicklow club have climbed the First Division table since the League of Ireland restart and has been rewarded by Jim Crawford with his inclusion in the training panel ahead of Ireland’s clash with Italy on October 13.

Barndarrig native Liam Scales takes his usual place on the panel and Maher will be joined for training by fellow League of Ireland men Luke McNally, Brandon Kavanagh and Dean Williams; who spent the latter half of 2019 on loan at the Carlisle Grounds.

Crawford’s men take on Italy at 4.30pm Irish time at Arena Garibaldi in a UEFA U-21 European Championship qualifier.
