Joy for Baltinglass

-

THERE were scenes of relief and joy in Corrstown on Monday after a mammoth battle that ended with victory after the sixth hole of sudden death when Baltinglass pair Fergal Doogue and Nathan Geraghty Byrne sealed their place in the Leinster final of the Jimmy Bruen Shield.

Two home victories by Derek Byrne and Owen Cooney and Neil Patterson and Stephen Mann were followed by two away defeats for Brian Lord and Johnny Keogh and Niall Doogue and Robert McHugh Jnr.

That left Fergal Doogue and Nathan Geraghty Byrne who were all flat after 20 holes on the Sunday before fading light forced them to return on Monday morning.

Back they went to Corrstown in Dublin and they claimed a wonderful victory on the 24th hole to send them to the final where they will meet Wexford Golf Club in the coming weeks.
