Ciara Kelly is Speech Broadcaster of the Year
GREYSTONES woman Ciara Kelly is the first female to win speech broadcaster of the year at the IMRO Radio Awards.
The awards ceremony was broadcast on livestream on Friday, October 2, with host Dermot Whelan presenting.
Ciara, formerly a GP practicing in Greystones, recently made the move to present Newstalk Breakfast with Shane Coleman.
Her win makes it three years in a row for a Newstalk presenter to win the award.
Her colleagues Pat Kenny and Ivan Yates have previously won the award.
In winning the prestigious award Ciara has the accolade of being the first woman ever to win it.
‘I’m absolutely thrilled,’ she said.
‘I didn’t expect to win - it’s a very competitive category.
To get this award from my peers in the industry is a huge honour and I’m very grateful to IMRO and to Newstalk for everything.’
The IMRO Radio Awards celebrate the best in Irish radio broadcasting and recognise those who have made contributions over the year.
The judging panel is made up of 106 industry veterans and independent judges.
They listened to 673 entries, over 41 different categories.
