GARDAÍ in Greystones have reported that a vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a home in Kilcoole, on January 10, between 7.15am and 8am. The 05 registration vehicle was subsequently located two days later in Clonsilla, Dublin.

In the Delgany/Killincarrig/ Charlesand area, theft from a vehicle was also reported overnight on January 11, with the centre console gone through. The vehicle had been left open, gardaí said.

Meanwhile, Greystones Community Gardaí Maria Curtis and Molly Corbett wish to advise that the public office of Greystones garda station will be closed temporarily due to building works. Bray Garda station is open 24 hours and otherwise, gardaí in Greystones are operating daily and nightly as normal.

In an update from Wicklow Minister Simon Harris, on Thursday, January 18, he said the refurbishment works would enhance the facilities for the gardaí and for members of the public.

“This is great news for Greystones Garda Station as the Minister for Justice and Minister for the OPW have confirmed to me that works are due to begin soon to refurbish the station and resurface the car park,” he said. “I have been actively engaging with both Ministers encouraging them to invest in Greystones

Garda Station and this news is really positive for the men and women of An Garda Síochána in the area.

The full works in the station include:

Works to improve safety measures for staff.

Works to reconfigure the space in the station in order to improve staff mobility.

Works to improve access for the public.

Carpark resurfacing, including the replacement of underground services and drainage.

The installation of electric vehicle charging stations.

Improved lighting system for the car park.

Works on structural defects to the existing stone boundary wall and outhouses to the rear of the station.

Creation of suitable facilities for female staff members.

“I don’t only want to see the station refurbished, I want to see it expanded and I will continue to work closely on that,” Minister Harris said. “This is an important investment in the station and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to Greystones Garda station and its future.

“I am committed to making sure our local gardaí have all the facilities they need in the local area and across Wicklow. It is of huge importance to me and the people of Wicklow that members of An Garda Síochána are equipped with all they require and are supported in their exceptional work.”
