Simon Harris sings the praises of Bray college at its open day
HAVING just announced a €1.5m package for the refurbishment of Bray Institute of Further Education, Higher Education Minister Simon Harris paid a visit to the campus on Friday, January 19, for the open day, where he met staff, students and Principal Ray Tedders.
“I was so pleased to be there again to visit again to meet students, to meet staff, it was a really important opportunity to talk to second-level students from right across the county and beyond about the options and pathways available for them after school,” he said.
“I would really echo that message for students right across the country, and their parents, of course the CAO provides many options, but so too do our colleges of further education. And it’s great to meet so many students doing so many courses, and great to sample some of the culinary delights, as well,” he added.
Minister Harris added that with so many opportunities and courses out there, he advised students to make sure they get all of the information available before making a final choice.
Aside from joining the musicians at BIFE on the day, Minister Harris sang the praises of the team from the BIFE Pastry, Baking & Barista course, who with their coordinator Ewelina Pajek baked a wide variety of pastries.
Newcastle’s Dream A Lot joined East Coast FM’s Declan Meehan to talk all about creating music for the Netflix hit, ‘Fool Me Once’, while the diversity of courses was in evidence with demonstrations by Saoirse O Driscoll and Oisin Quigley from the Emergency Care Studies Course.
