Glamour and glitz at Sunbeam Oscars
THE second Ardú film festival showcasing the extraordinary talents of clients from Sunbeam House Services took place at the Parkview Hotel in Newtownmountkennedy.
Ardú was created in 2022 when the staff team came up with the initiative of producing a short film featuring the talents of their clients.
The black-tie affair gave everyone the opportunity to get all glammed up and enjoy a beautiful night of fun and laughter, with the event selling out within minutes of tickets being released.
Doors opened at 6.30 p.m. where the team from Start Services greeted guests and families and friends of Sunbeam House. Once seated everyone enjoyed a meal accompanied by classical music, followed by a fantastic viewing of films.
Client Service Manager Melissa Byrne opened the evening by welcoming everyone, including Sunbeam’s new CEO Fran Murphy. She also thanked her Start Day service team of Bernadette Archer and Ciaran Coogan for coming up with the idea of the film festival. Ciaran was also part of the production team, alongside Colum Coogan, Kevin Pedreschi and
Oisin Smyth.
The categories were decided for the awards ceremony and independent judges were asked to judge the film and documentaries. The award for best film went to Start Day Service for ‘The Hoist’, while Dargle Community Base were highly commended for ‘Rocky Road to DCB’.
Best group performance went to the Student Learning Centre and ‘Probably the best Fashion Show in the World’. The Pod won most creative entry for ‘The
Murroughs’ and best comedy was awarded to The Core for ‘Father Ted comes to Wicklaw’. Start Day Service won most original entry for ‘The Hoist’.
