Ben will be joined by violinist Hyeyoon Park and our Artistic Director, Fiachra Garvey on piano for an evening of romantic trios and exciting new compositions for this gorgeous combination of instruments.
The Saloon, Russborough House is also the venue for the concert taking place on Thursday, May 16, at 8 p.m. which will see Korean born Inmo Yang and French pianist Yannick Rafalimanana making their Irish debuts having both performed in some of the world’s leading venues. They will join forces for a performance of a lifetime featuring exquisite classical sonatas by Bach and Mozart, the impassioned romanticism of a Schumann Fantasy, Lili Boulanger’s beautiful and delicately coloured Nocturne et Cortege, and Fanck’s monumental Violin Sonata, for an evening of sublime pleasure.
Winner of vocalist of the year at the JazzFM awards, the Judi Jackson Jazz Ensemble will be performing in the Tramway Theatre in Blessington on Saturday, May 18, starting at 8 p.m.
Originally from Virginia, USA, Judi grew up playing piano and singing in her local church choir. Inspired by the greats - Betty Carter, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, her Jazz career began at just 16 years old when she opened for Mavis Staples.
In 2022 Judi released her debut album catapulting her onto the international jazz stage, with performances at the London Jazz Festival and the Jools Holland Show.
As part of the West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival, Judi will perform her own interpretations of songs from the jazz greats, from Nina Simone to Billie Holiday for what promises to be an unforgettable performance.
Two of Ireland’s finest singers will join festival founder, Fiachra Garvey for an afternoon recital that combines much-loved opera arias and duets with music inspired by folk songs from Ireland and Hungary, taking place in St Mary’s Church, Blessington, on Sunday, May 19 from 3.30 p.m.
Winner of the Maria Callas Competition in Verona, Claudia Boyle is no stranger to the West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival, having performed in previous years.
She will be accompanied by Gyula Naga, a Hungarian baritone based in Wicklow.
Gyula has graced the stages of the National Opera’s production of Rossini’s William Tell, while recent international appearances include Puccini’s Madame Butterfly for The Royal Opera, London.
Fiachra, who is much loved by audiences across Europe for his exuberant and virtuosic performances, will accompany them on piano.
