49TH ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF HEIFERS & COWS - FEBRUARY 7: A top price of €1920 was paid for a Charlaois heifer weighing just over 750kg. The Show Champion was a Limousin Heifer weighing 800kg and made €2100. The Champion group was won by a pair of Charlaois heifers weighing just over 450kg and made €1,360. Below are some of the high prices obtained on the day.

A good selection of cows made from €1200–€1900

SHEEP SALE - FEBRUARY 10: Smaller sale, but prices were well maintained from last week. Lambs 36-40kg made from €115-€137; 25-30kg made from €85-€105.

Sample Prices: 3 x 66kg made €160; 10 x 40kg made €137; 8 x 40kg made €137; 11 x 40kg made €128; 7 x 36kg made €115. Good trade for Cast Ewes–from €70–€138. Ewes Scanned in Lamb made from €160-€180. northern customers and wholesaler­s while the beef heifers were in demand from factory agents and northern customers a like.

The fancy breeding heifers stole the show. With customers from every county in the country both ringside and online trying to buy stylish heifers for breeding. This led to some serious trade with some outstandin­g prices for farmers. A super yard of store heifers were available for farmers to battle it out to acquire stock for grass.

Class 3: Best Breeding Heifer, sponsored by Donohue’s Enniscorth. 1st Patsy Fortune LMX 766kg at €2,600; 2nd Martin Doyle BBX 716kg at €2,320; 3rd James Murphy BBX 472kg at €2,640.
