Upcoming Teagasc webinars

TEAGASC is inviting Wicklow farmers and landowners to a series of online seminars on topics, including vacant property refurbishm­ent grants, forest creation and soil fertility.

On Wednesday, February 28, at 10 a.m. Teagasc will host a ‘Vacant Property Refurbishm­ent Grant ‘webinar that will provide an introducti­on to the grant, along with a discussion on its benefits, eligibilit­y criteria, and funding opportunit­ies for refurbishm­ent, followed by a Q&A session.

Featuring Ann Marie O’Connor, Principal Officer at the Vacant Homes Unit (Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage), the webinar will be of interest to anyone with an unused or derelict property on their farm or those curious about refurbishi­ng them for rental or personal use.

Teagasc’s ‘Signpost Series Webinar’– a series of weekly environmen­t webinars aimed at the Irish agri industry – will continue on Friday, March, at 9 a.m. with a seminar on Forest creation options on the farm.

In the second instalment of the series, the webinar will feature guest speaker Tom Houlihan, Forestry Specialist with Teagasc.

Finally, on Monday, March 4, day two of the Soil Fertility Conference will take place at 10 a.m., with the last instalment on Monday, March 11.

Topics and speakers include Minimising Costs and Environmen­tal impact of your Fertiliser N programme (Seamus Kearney, Teagasc), Nitrogen formulatio­n (including liquid N) and Sulphur (Patrick Forrestal, Teagasc), Environmen­tal and Agronomic use of Sulphur (Patrick Forrestal, Teagasc) and Clover Nitrogen use and production (Michael Egan, Teagasc).

The webinar will conclude with a questions and answers session.
